This E46 M3 couldn’t be in better hands

What would you do if you were driving home in your newly purchased E46 M3 and it spun a rod bearing?

Well, Heel and Toe took the opportunity to use it as a fresh start.

If you don’t know Robert from Heel and Toe, he’s a very talented driver that has an itch for going sideways. His YouTube channel encapsulates the true nature of spirited driving in the Alps, Nürburgring, and different circuits. Be sure to check out his YouTube channel.

As for the build, he purchased it in the UK as a RHD Clubsport car and drove it 12 hours home. In the last hour, he had a catastrophic engine failure that left the car immobile. Much of the damage was done by a failed rod bearing as well as areas of the engine running too hot; ultimately, this resulted in the 6th piston to basically melt en route to its new home. The rod bearings were supposedly replaced less than 20k miles ago but unfortunately, they were allegedly installed wrong.

But don’t take my word for it. He has a detailed video of all the things that were wrong with the engine on his YouTube channel. If you would like to know more about the reason the engine failed, check it out.

He decided to buy a used engine and completely rebuild it with AMT Motorsports in Germany. The new engine received all necessary upgrades from Hack Engineering as well as a Carbon Fiber Airbox from Haimus. During the engine rebuild, Custom Racetec installed a weld in cage from Raceparts.CC that goes from the front shock tower to the rear shock towers.

It was also converted from RHD to LHD, a pretty insane swap if you ask me. It’s also equipped with an axel kinematic kit, Öhlins TTX Suspension, AP Racing 6-pot in the front, Carbon fenders, fiberglass CSL trunk, Recaro SPG Kevlar seat/ Recaro Pole Position, Schroth 6-point harness, CAE Shifter, Liteblox battery, and much more.

The build is intended for the track but will be street legal and will see the backcountry as well as the Alps. It’s safe to say that this build will be purpose-driven by Heel and Toe.
