Is Alpine White Legendary Status?

@thewhitee46m3

Recently, I posted this instagram photo captioned, "Seems like Alpine White is one of the most sought out colors for the E46 M3. It could be collectable status soon if it isn’t already. (One with a desirable spec and proper ownership of course).” My followership seemed to have polarizing opinions on whether this was true or not.

First off, we should talk about the history of BMW and Alpine White, as it was brought up by @mattchewers. Back in 1972, the CSL 3.0 was released as their designated racecar. It featured the Tri-Color Motorsport Livery stripes that were originally blue, red, and purple. These colors were pasted in stripes over, you guessed it, white. As BMW progressed into their motorsport development, the Tri-Color stripes on Alpine White remained.

Other possible legendary colors were thrown into the conversation like Laguna Seca Blue, Interlagos Blue, and Silver Grey! Is Alpine White part of the conversation? In terms of status, does it come before or after these other colors? I certainly think it's a historic color that represents the BMW brand.
